About me
I came to education through a circuitous path. Originally earning my BA/MA in Asian Studies from UCSB, I planned to be a Professor of Japanese. After returning from living in Japan, I met my husband and decided I would rather marry him than move away to earn my Ph.D. What to do now? Realizing that I was always the friend people came to for guidance and venting, I earned my MS in Counseling Psychology. Planning to earn my Ph.D., life intervened again in the form of my daughter. I realized then that I'd rather just hold the baby. So I did! 3 more children and 20 years later, I became a substitute IA when the kids needed me less. Fell in love with Special Education and went to Cal Poly for my M.Ed. (I know, some people NEVER learn.) I've been an SDC teacher, a TOSA, an AP and am now a Program Specialist for Special Education at SMBSD.
