History/ELA TOSA, Santa Maria-Bonita School District
I am excited to enter my 31st year as an educator and am looking forward to learning from all of you. I am a father of 5 and I believe that every student deserves our best effort each day.

1. Flyer descriptionSTEAM in TK: KIBO Robot with Veronica Diaz & Elaina Thackery 2. Please note, the KIBO sessions this week are repeated sessions, so you only need to attend one (1) session. 3. Did you know that if you attend this session, you will receive a screenless KIBO robot for your class! YES! A robot for your students! 4.That's a KIBO robot below, and it's an incredible tool for hands-on learning! With KIBO, students become creators, problem-solvers, and computational thinkers through play.
Here are just a few of the many things students can do with KIBO:
Program KIBO using screen-free coding blocks or cards.
Record their own voices using KIBO's built-in microphone to personalize projects.
Create and extend patterns, then bring them to life with lights, sounds, and movement (for example, A-B-A-B).
And that's just the beginning! KIBO encourages creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking while making coding accessible and engaging for our youngest learners.

Update 8/3/26 Aeries no longer provides sandbox accounts to explore features (a demo account). For this session, we will modify the learning and use a generic account to review the Aeries platform, but the demonstration will be limited. All classroom teachers will have access to Aeries by the first day of school if you currently do not have access.
Reach out to Veronica at [email protected] if you have questions. Thanks!
